Courage To Survive

Like a warrior
I stand tall and give forth
the cry of battle
I will not lose
not to you
nor to myself

I have surpassed my defeats
endured many battles
felt the deepest of pain
rejected from birth, scorned
Yet still, I stand tall

Fear may over come me
but only for a moment in time
for courage is survival
and desperation the fodder
to raise up my head

I give forth the battle cry
I will not lose
I will not lay down and die
I will see the sun rise bright each day
and not fear the struggle to survive.
