Mothers Child
With
a soft mewing cry
The
babe began its life
Separate
from the warmth
Of
its mothers womb
Oh
beautiful child
Held
gently in caring arms
You
have all of life
Now
ahead of you
Tiny
fingers grasping
Rosebud
lips suckling
The
babe rocked in its mother's arms
Nurtured
away from the world around
Unknown
to both mother and child
The
years will race away from them
And
fates will intervene
Tossing
aspirations to the ground
Pains
will outweigh the joy
Disappointments
drowning the spirit
Burdens
weighing heavy upon small shoulders
As
the child's eyes deepen in grief
Life
is never fair or just
A
lesson well learned for the girl child
Love
a word easily thrown
Love
a word never really known
In
one twinkling moment of time
With
a cruel blow from a loved hand
Illusions
fall away
And
life is again exposed in a cold cruel light
